In light of emerging demographic challenges and shifting attitudes toward family, reexamining the role of childbearing in strengthening the foundation of the family from the perspective of the Holy Qur’an is both a scientific and social necessity. This article aims to elucidate the role of childbearing in the stability and elevation of the family institution by exploring Qur’anic teachings on the subject. The central question of the study is: Given the fundamental importance of the family in the social structure, how can children and the act of childbearing reinforce this institution according to the illuminating verses of the Qur’an? The motivation behind this research stems from concerns over declining population growth rates and weakening family bonds in contemporary societies. Employing a descriptive-analytical method and drawing on library sources, the study analyzes Qur’anic verses and authoritative texts to develop its theoretical framework. The findings reveal that childbearing, as the natural outcome of marriage, plays a vital role in strengthening spousal relationships, enhancing the dignity and happiness of parents, and invigorating the family unit. Moreover, numerous Qur’anic verses—emphasizing marriage, prohibiting infanticide, honoring mothers and pregnant women, and advocating for the upbringing of righteous offspring—affirm the fundamental value of childbearing. Neglecting this issue leads to weakened family ties, rising divorce rates, population aging, and diminished social and defensive capacities of the nation. The study concludes that childbearing, beyond its personal significance, constitutes a cultural and social imperative within the value system of the Qur’an.
